Corporate Membership

Overview:

The Corporate Member Program allows a business to appoint up to three of its employees (designees) as members of Southern Mitchell Rotary (SMR).

  • The business shall notify SMR of any changes in its designees. Changes should be sent in writing to the current Secretary.

  • Any new designee must go through the club’s member nomination and approval process.

  • Once approved, all designees are considered full SMR members.

  • Although attendance is not mandatory, attendance records are kept and all SMR members are encouraged to attend as many club meetings, service projects, and social events as possible. These include live and virtual events, as well as events sponsored by other Rotary Clubs and/or Rotary International.

 Financial Obligations:

  • Dues: the business pays $1500 per year. This includes up to three (3) Members under the Corporate Membership.

  • Any additional designees will be at $500 per year to become full Members of the SMR.

  • Contributions are not required, but highly encouraged, either from the business/organisation or from its designees’ personal funds.

In addition, SMR will display the business/organisation’s logo on its website, at no additional fee. This will not be an advertisement, but a full colour logo designating it as a SMR Member and Rotary Supporter.  When Events, Service Projects or Community Events occur, the Corporate Logo can be used in conjunction to SMR sponsored events.

A local business can apply to be a Corporate Member under the rules set out in the Club Bylaws as follows:

 ADDENDUM A : Corporate Membership

  1.  Qualifications. The employees of any business are eligible for Corporate Membership in Southern Mitchell Rotary.

  2.  Membership. The Club’s Board may offer Corporate Membership to the employees of a business, or the employees of a business may apply to the Club’s Board to become Corporate Members. Subject to the approval of the Club’s Board, the business designates employees to serve as members of Southern Mitchell Rotary and may appoint up to three people to be the Primary Corporate Member (one) or an Alternate Corporate Member (two).

  3. Attendance. Attendance and participation requirements of the club may be met by any of the members. All members (Primary and Alternates) are entitled to attend any regular meeting or function of the Club or any other Rotary club as determined by the Club.

  4. Dues. Annual club dues for the corporation will be set each year by the Club Board. This will include dues to cover the Primary Corporate Member and Alternate Corporate Members nominated by the corporation.

  5. Rotary International (RI) registration. Primary Corporate Members for whom RI dues have been paid are registered as active members in Rotary International’s database. They will be listed as official members of the Rotary Club of St Peters and noted in the Club’s membership database as a Primary Corporate Member of the named business. Alternate Corporate Members for whom RI dues have not been paid are not listed in the Club’s membership database and are not listed in Rotary International’s database.

  6. Votes and quorum. For the purpose of general meetings and club matters, the Primary Corporate Member is eligible to vote. Since the corporation has one primary member that is reported as an active, RI dues-paying member. That person will have only one vote which will be made by the primary member or by proxy (which could be an Alternate Member or a member of the Rotary Club of St Peters) at the meeting at which the vote is taken.

  7. Holding office. Any RI dues-paying member listed in Rotary International’s database, which includes the Primary Member, is eligible to hold office. Alternates who do not pay RI dues are not eligible.
